Theme:
"North Country First - Creating Opportunities for Sustainable Growth"
This year’s Symposium will focus on creating opportunities for sustainable growth in the North Country. Panelists will present on several emerging initiatives that implement the concepts presented in previous Symposiums: building on our regional strengths and assets while plugging leakages. We will view this approach through a virtual lens that demonstrates how the promotion of renewable energies can in turn promote workforce and economic development in our region. Speaking to this point will be our keynote speaker, Ed Murphy. Ed is the Director of the New York State Workforce Development Institute and one of the founders of the New York State Apollo Alliance (for more information on Mr. Murphy, please see his bio here). In addition to the keynote address and presentation of emerging initiatives, exhibits pertaining to organizations and local efforts will be available for viewing and networking. Following presentations in the morning, attendees will have the opportunity to break out into action teams in the afternoon, in order to identify ways in which they can promote initiatives supporting our region’s economy, environment, and educational vitality.
