Theme:
"Resources for North Country Sustainability"

It is a new year, and there are new resources and new opportunities for us in the North Country Symposium.

This year’s North Country Symposium, the 6th annual, will introduce these new resources and opportunities to attendees.  Action teams will become more effective.  And the Symposium will grow stronger.

A thematic context will provide the framework for this forum on “Resources for North Country Sustainability.”  This year’s Symposium will define sustainability and discuss how our community development efforts can help us achieve this sustainability.  It will reintroduce the Going Local concepts and discuss how Going Local supports sustainable development.  A look at the work of the Energy and Education action teams and other local groups will provide examples.  Action teams will then be able to bring this knowledge and the resources they have learned about into working sessions.  The action teams will have the ability to explore existing local/regional initiatives, work to promote those initiatives, or create new initiatives that will help us move toward a sustainable community.  And this year’s Symposium will also provide us with context at the regional, national, and international levels, providing us with advice on how we can become better connected to regional efforts and utilize best practices.
